Lab Created Diamonds
WHAT ARE LAB DIAMONDS?
Lab Diamonds are physically, chemically, and visually the same as natural mined diamonds. Lab Diamonds ARE diamonds… the only difference being the origin where one is grown in a lab in a matter of weeks and one grown over a much longer period of time in the earth.
HOW ARE THEY MADE?
Lab-grown diamonds are produced by two methods: chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or high pressure, high temperature (HPHT).
CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAB DIAMONDS AND NATURAL MINED DIAMONDS?
No, you cannot. To the naked eye, the two appear exactly the same. Even jewelers with years of experience cannot spot the differences without specialized equipment specifically created for that purpose.
WILL A LAB DIAMOND PASS A DIAMOND TESTER?
Yes, a lab diamond will read as a diamond on a diamond tester.
ARE LAB DIAMONDS CERTIFIED?
Yes, they can be graded and certified in the same manner as natural mined diamonds. Lab diamonds are graded by independent gemological organizations (such as GIA & IGI) on their cut, color, clarity and carat weight. We do not recommend purchasing a lab diamond (or any diamond) without a certificate.
WHY CHOOSE A LAB CREATED DIAMOND?
Lab diamonds are a great choice for those looking for a more sustainable, ethical and economical choice to their natural mined counterpart.
DO LAB DIAMONDS HOLD VALUE?
Lab diamonds have steadily dropped in value over the last few years since they have gained popularity. We believe that lab diamond prices will level out at some point soon. We do not recommend purchasing lab or natural diamonds for their resale value (diamonds are NOT an investment).
WHAT IS THE PRICE COMPARISON BETWEEN LAB DIAMONDS AND NATURAL MINED DIAMONDS?
The price fluctuates, but at the moment lab diamonds cost 80-90% less than a natural diamond of the same quality.
ARE LAB DIAMONDS THE SAME AS MOISSANITE?
No, they are not. Moissanite is an entirely different gemstone with different chemical properties.
ARE LAB DIAMONDS THE SAME AS CUBIC ZIRCONIA?
No, they are not. Cubic Zirconia is a diamond simulant. Natural and lab-grown diamonds are made of carbon, while cubic zirconia is made of zirconium dioxide.
